Joan
looks like a good day at the coin shop. "1897 2 1/2 Gramos Dominican Republique" would love to see a picture of it. Iam always buying coins just because I liked it...but I guess that the point of collecting.Did you Haggle the guy at allover the prices..its always fun and you can save a few bucks. I to just started to collect the proof sets. Pretty good deal you got on them. I went a little crazy one night online and bought the 76,78,79,80,82,84,85 proof sets. All from one seller so I got the combined shipping which saved me a bunch. If I average the total cost it came out to $5.80 a piece.
"A money clip for Greg that had a Eisenhower Bicentennial coin attached - $4.50 (Priceless)" LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY...I love the bicentennials. and it serves a purpose so you can show your collector pride all the time(priceless). Really want to get some coin jewerly. Guess I will one day.

Chris sorry to hear about your stroke that took you out of the game....dam near lost my eye in a dirt bike accident. cant imagine not being able to go shooting.
I love to play pool. cant say that I can just walk up and clear a table. but I really enjoy playing. This is my stick. It was my wifes Grandpas. He was a awesome player. If you think back and ask who Thomas was all you'll hear is "He was a pool player". Had a full size table in his Basement. Glad and honored i ended up with it.
Any tips on stick care would be great.

Re: Pics of Newly Purchased Coins
I like these pictures better too...forget what rigo said and just get a microscope with a camera.
And I beg to differ that your coin isnt "toned". see rigos from Cali and isnt up to date on how coins tone in the Midwest....see rigo this is callled "rustic toning" from all the heavy salting during the winter. the toning comes out mostly brown
now in cali you have salt and a ton of tanning lotion and baby oil in the air....every put oil in water...yep you get lots of color....thats way your use to seeing "multi color toning" and not the "rustic toning". Its cool though rigo we are all here to learn.
other coins are very nice too

Re: My army has arrived
they are from different years so Iam guessing poland is making different commemorative coins every year to celebrate battles and great war heros
Ist coin is a 2 zlote coin of Poland from the series History of the Polish Cavalry commemorating the Heavy Armounted Horsman from the XV Century.
2nd coin is a 2 zlote coin of Poland from the series History of the Polish Cavalry commemorating the Winged Cavaleryman (Husarz).
Husarz (soldier of Husaria) was armed in excellent sabre - far better than japanese sword
also with a pistol or two (sometimes heavy pistols - bandolets), 15-foot-long lance and koncerz - a kind of long spade/rapier used to pierce armour. Most famous thing in Husarz`s armour were wings. They were used to scare enemy horses and to prevent from catching Husarz on arkan (lasso).
3rd coin is a 2 zlote coin of Poland from the series History of the Polish Cavalry commemorating Chevau-Legers of Napoleon Bonaparte's Imperila Guard of Cavaleryman (Husarz).
At the beginning of the 19th century while Poland was partitioned by Russia, Prussia and Austria, Poles vested their hopes to regain independence in Napoleon and saw the only chance to make their plans come true by joining his military campaigns. On the wave of this sentiment a very special military formation was created - the Polish 1st Regiment of Chevau-Léger of the Imperial Guard (Régiment de Chevau-Légers
Polonais de la Garde Impériale), unit composed of Poles, yet being part of the Napoleon’s Army, financed by the Emperor’s Treasury.
The Regiment fought on all the European fronts, participating in forty five battles and major engagements in the Spanish campaign (1808), Austrian campaign (1809), Russian campaign (1812), Saxon campaign (1813) and French campaign (1814). The battle at the Pass of Somosierra on 30 November 1808 became legendary. The Regiment of Chevau-Légers commanded by Jan Leon Kozietulski performed an unparalleled exploit –under continuous fire of artillery they charged up the Somosierra pass where four artillery batteries had been entrenched. The charge took place over a distance of 2.5 km and lasted just about 8 minutes. Defenders fled in panic, opening the road for Napoleon’s Army to Madrid. Out of the total of two hundred Chevau-Légers taking part in the charge, only eighteen were killed and thirty-nine were wounded.
Light cavalrymen became famous for their valor and heroic courage. Thanks to their characteristic uniforms they were easily distinguished by all enemy soldiers who, as far as they could, avoided encounters with the Polish Regiment of the Imperial Guard.
4th coin is a 2 zloty coin of Poland, commemorating the 90-year anniversary of the battle of Warsaw.
The Battle of Warsaw ( Bitwa Warszawska; sometimes referred to as the Miracle at the Vistula) was the decisive battle of the Polish–Soviet War, which began soon after the end of World War I in 1918 and lasted until the Treaty of Riga (1921).
5th coin is a 2 zloty coin of Poland, commemorating the 600-year anniversary of the battle of Grunwald.
The Battle of Grunwald or 1st Battle of Tannenberg was fought on July 15, 1410, during the Polish–Lithuanian–Teutonic War. The alliance of the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, led respectively by King Jogaila (Władysław Jagiełło) and Grand Duke Vytautas (Witold), decisively defeated the Teutonic Knights, led by Grand Master Ulrich von Jungingen. Most of the Teutonic knight's leadership was killed or taken prisoner. While defeated, the Teutonic Knights withstood the siege on their fortress in Marienburg (Malbork) and suffered only minimal territorial losses at the Peace of Thorn (1411) (Torun). Territorial disputes continued until the Peace of Melno was concluded in 1422. However, the Knights never recovered their former power and the financial burden of war reparations caused internal conflicts and an economic downturn in their lands. The battle shifted the balance of power in Eastern Europe and marked the rise of the Polish–Lithuanian union as the dominant political and military force in the region.
The battle was one of the largest battles in Medieval Europe and is regarded as the most important victory in the history of Poland and Lithuania.

1 million dollars falls from the sky
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/raining-gold-secret-1-million-gold-stash-discovered-203724430.html
French Champagne producer is spreading the wealth with his workers after they discovered nearly $1 million in gold coins stashed away in the building's rafters, according to Agence France Press (AFP).
"One of the workers (was) attacking the building's ceiling with a crowbar when gold coins started to rain down on him, followed by sacks of gold," Francois Lange, head of Alexandre Bonnet in Les Riceys France, told AFP.
It's not unusual to hear about treasure hunters combing the ocean's depth for gold and other precious metals lost at sea, but finding $1 million in your office attic is quite a steal. And a valuable one too, given that demand for gold has reached new heights recently. In 2011, just an ounce of gold was valued at $1,920.30.
In all, 497 gold coins were unearthed, with the majority literally raining down upon the workers who were busy renovating the building. Minted between 1851 and 1928, the coins have a face value marking of $20 each. However, together they are now worth an estimated $980,000, according to AFP.
Lange says he will keep half of the money for himself, while splitting half with the workers who made the discovery. No one knows for sure who placed the coins in the building, but AFP reports the building was previously owned by a wine producer in the 1930s.
That may seem like a minor detail for now but don't be surprised if this "buried" treasure story still has another chapter to be told. After all, what are the odds that $1 million in gold coins will go unclaimed, even if the previous owners are no longer alive. Just look at the recent legal case being argued between Spain and a team of scavengers who in 2008 found more than $500 million worth of gold coins and other treasures in a wreck off the Florida coast.

Well I bought this 10 sen from Rigo....1893 MS62...first coin from Japan i have gotten....now he told me he was going to throw in a error coin also...to my surprise there was 5 extra coins....Pretty sure he was only going to send me 1 but then after polishing off that 6 pack of O'Douls the coins just starting flowing....big THANKS to Rigo.

Re: Those travelling buyers.
Man this pisses me off....fuking a holes.....sorry to hear that your dad is "getting out there a bit" cause any coin collector wouldnt have shafted themselves or there kids like that. Just makes you want to punch someone. but sadly my Dad did the same thing kinda..he went and sold all his silver bars he had and made a good amount on those because he bought them years ago when silver was cheap but he also sold his wifes old quarters and half dollars too.... the guy didnt iave him ish for the quarters and halfs....now me and my uncle being coin collectors where pissed because we both offered to buy them off him for more then the guy gave him.....SO WTF WOULD YOU SELL TO SOME RANDOM GUY FOR CHEAPER THEN US DAD?????
I mean shit we see you all the time so its not like he would have to wait to get the money....
I just dont get it sometimes
AHHHHHHH now I m angry again......

Getting my cigar on
Well I ordered a Humidor the other day....nice one that holds 75. hasnt come in yet. Also ordered some expresso flavour small cigars. those should arrive with my humidor. then yesterday I ordered a Brass Zippo Armored...wall is 1.5x thicker then a normal zippo so should have a nice feel to it. And last but not least I ordered a Cuban Crafters cigar cutter. Also believe Rigo was sending me a cigar..think it is a spicy cigar called a Iguana...should be interesting.... so when all this arrives i will post some pics...but here are some small cigars I picked up at the local shop. Tatiana Honey Flavoured nice little 10min smoke. So stay tuned more to come

Newish coins
Well I had ordered some coins from Rigo weeks ago but sadly it got busy at work so I couldnt get any pictures of them until yesterday....Not super happy with the pictures because of where they moved the microscope. now the lighting is different. ordered 3 coins from him 2 US and 1 world....here are the USA ones and you can find the others in the world section. The pennies I ordered and of course Rigo throws a bunch extra my way (THANKS RIGO). I really like the first day issue buffalo nickel. didnt even know they had those..Well enjoy everyone

bunch of new coins
Well here are a bunch of coins Rigo sent me...and man do we have some lookers in the bunch....first off is the 1878 Chile coin this is the one I ordered. very nice looking coin and I like picking up coins from the 1800's..you know there not getting any younger..then theres the 1967 Gramos from the D.R.....love these coins..they have a great feel and look to them..the 12.5 Gramos is like half dollar size. Next we have the 2 Dragon Slayers..who doesnt like them...I have a small collection going of them so these will fit right in. then theres the Iran coin which is in very nice shape. dont think I have anyone from there so hey this might be a first. Next is the 1976 Drachma I think its spelled. I like it because it has a Ancient kinda look to it. Well i hope Rigo will tell me what this 1944 coin is...the thing is toasted cant make out much detail so hopefully he can school me on what it is.
Enjoy
Enjoy
